Art

Art at Sequoia is an integral part of all K-5 curricula, thanks to grants raised by staff and students and the tireless work of our artists in residence. Our art programs support literacy, social studies and math through hands-on visual art projects.

Students gain skills in drawing, painting, bookmaking, and sculpture, with an emphasis on common core connections. Our poster contests connect our student artists with the Dimond Business District, and student art displayed in public places (in conjunction with Alameda County’s Art is Education program) makes them ambassadors for art in education.

Students also express their creativity and visual arts abilities through ArtSPARK, a thematic art fair, which encourages students to create original works to show off at a fundraising “gallery” event in December each year.
