Gifted & Talented Education

Our Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program focuses on supporting students in their efforts to become productive, independent, creative and caring adults. Because of differences in interests, learning styles, strengths and needs for these students, GATE introduces a differentiated curriculum taught in class by the classroom teacher.

Students qualify for GATE beginning in the 3rd grade. Teachers or administrators may refer students, or parents and students can request participation. The referral process includes the processing of a teacher referral form, a parent permission slip, an assessment based on standardized test scores, teacher evaluation and/or administration of an intelligence test given by a district psychologist.
