2018-2019 Event Information

Place: Sequoia Auditorium and Cafeteria

Online bidding opens February 1st, here! (IMPORTANT: Please read the bidding rules below before bidding.) We hope you’ll also join us for the live event on February 9, which brings together 350+ Sequoia families and community members to eat, dance, laugh, connect and bid on hundreds of great items.

Bidding Rules:
By bidding in The Sequoia Elementary Silent Auction, each bidder agrees to the following:
1. All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds unless otherwise noted.
2. All items are “as is.” The Sequoia Elementary Auction volunteers have attempted to describe and catalog items correctly, but neither warrant nor represent and, in no event, shall be responsible for the correctness of descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance or condition of the items. No statement made on the bidding website or catalog, or made orally at the auction or elsewhere, shall be deemed such a warranty, representation, or assumption of liability.
3. The auction item value listed is an estimate of fair market value. Items have not been appraised unless so noted. The amount you pay above this fair market value estimate is normally tax-deductible as a charitable contribution. Please consult your tax adviser to clarify the amount of deduction.
4. Restaurant certificates do not include alcohol, tax, or gratuities unless specified.
5. Payment for items purchased must be made in full on the night of the auction online via credit card. The Auction volunteers will attempt to process all winning bids within one hour of closing.
6. Once your winning bids have been processed and payment is complete, you may pick up your purchases in the check-out area.
7. Items must be taken home by the purchaser or a designee. Any items left behind must be picked up by the purchaser or designee at Sequoia during hours specified by the Auction volunteers. Physical items will not be mailed or shipped.
8. The Sequoia Elementary Silent Auction Committee reserves the right to add or withdraw items, without notice, to or from the auction.
9. Unless otherwise specified, all auction gift certificates must be used within one year of the date of the auction.
10. Each person bidding assumes all risks and hazards related to the auction and items obtained at the auction. Each bidder agrees to hold harmless from any liability arising indirectly from The Sequoia Elementary Silent Auction and The Sequoia PTO, their elected and appointed officials, members and employees, the auctioneer(s), the auction company and its agents and employees, the event organizers, sponsors, and/or volunteers connected with the auction.
11. A bidding extension feature has been enabled for this auction so that there is fair access to popular items. This feature will automatically prevent “sniper bidding” by extending the closing time for an item if it has a bid in the last five minutes prior to auction close.

Here are 8 ways you can get involved:
1. Save the date – Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 – and invite extended family, friends and neighbors
2. Donate an item to the auction – gift certificates, event passes, sports tickets, etc.
3. Donate an experience – offer to teach a skill, host a special playdate, lead a hike
4. Solicit donations of items or services from others
5. Sponsor the event with a gift of $250 or more (and get lots of visibility for your business!)
6. Ask your employer to match your gift or sponsor the event
7. Volunteer to help with the event itself–before, during or after
8. Starting Friday, February 1st, bid, bid, BID! You’ll be able to keep bidding online right up till the close of the live event on Feb. 9–whether you’re able to attend or not.
