It was a pleasure getting to meet so many of you at the Meet & Treat on Friday. Our school staff cannot wait to welcome all of our students to the 2019–20 school year! Here are some final reminders of Sequoia policies and procedures (old and new) to support a safe and orderly school experience: All toys and personal play equipment must stay home. Parents are invited to donate sports equipment for use by the school/classroom. The school yard will close 15 minutes after final bell, starting Aug. 14. At 10 minutes after the bell, a warning whistle will be blown. At 15 minutes after the bell, a distinct final whistle will be blown to signify that all students and parents should exit the yard... »

Dear Squirrel Families: As one door closes and another opens, I have been reflecting on my time here at Sequoia. First, I want to thank you for everything you have done for Sequoia and for me personally. Our school is a better place because of all the work and effort of everyone here. You are truly one of those key pieces that makes a difference. Change is inevitable, however, and it is always a heavy emotional lift when someone leaves. Here are a few reminders for the upcoming last day of school this Thursday: Lost and Found Items Cleared and Donated: Please take a moment and visit one of the Lost and Found areas to pick up any misplaced items before they are cleared out for the summer. Third Trimester Report Cards Sent Home: Check backpacks for your student’s final report card. We wish our students a happy summer break and our fifth graders a fantastic transition to Middle School! »

As we close out another year at Sequoia, I’d like to thank all the hardworking parent volunteers of our communications team: Virginia Afentoulis, Jenny Boyden, Elizabeth Hansen, Kathleen Hogan, Bobby Jordan, Doug Kearney, Tracey Kelp, Jesse Kelsey, Heather Pitman, and Issabella Shields. Special thanks to Kathleen, who is relocating out of Oakland, and to Jenny and Doug, who are moving on as their Squirrels graduate to middle school. Shout out to Hailey Magsig for helping our team transition into the world of Moment. Major kudos to Ms. Angelina for all the endless photocopying and distribution of paper newsletters.
