Readathon Starts Friday

Blank reading logs and donation logs go home this Friday to kick off the 10th annual Sequoia Readathon. From Friday through Monday, Apr. 15, the kids will read their hearts out (as usual), and this year we need parents and guardians to fundraise with just as much passion.

Get a jump now by signing up a Network for Good “personal fundraiser” for your student. Go to hps://sequoiaschool.networkforgood.com and either use your login and password from the 2018 Readthon or create a new account.

At the end of next week are two big events, Family Reading Night on Thursday and D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) Day on Friday, when kids come to school in pajamas or dress as their favorite literary characters, and guests read aloud books the kids love. We also sell Peet’s Coffee and La Farine pastries to grown-up Squirrels in the morning.

Remember, the Readathon is the last big Sequoia fundraiser of the year. We are tasked with a fundraising goal of $40,000 to give cost-of-living raises to the enrichment teachers (gardening, art, music and science) and fill some holes left by the recent, severe district cuts. We can do it, Squirrel community!
