Current Volunteer Opportunities

We do our best to keep track of all current volunteer opportunities and contact information for activities, programs and events at Sequoia. If you have a volunteer opportunity to add to this list or are interested in volunteering, please contact Marie Jones, the community engagement and volunteer coordinator for Sequoia, at SPTOVolunteerCoordinator@gmail.com.

Here are a few volunteer opportunities coming up. If you are interested in helping with any of these please feel free to ask for contact information for the event leads by sending an email to SPTOVolunteerCoordinator@gmail.com.

BOOK FAIR: Dec 4-8 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Fall Book Fair will be held in the cafeteria after school Dec. 4-8. Timing will be right after school Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday for about an hour (3-4 p.m.). Wednesday the fair will be open later for the after-school parents (later start time due to choir rehearsals), 4-6 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to help with the Book Fair. Please contact Heather King at 510-846-5519 or heatherking.lmt@gmail.com.

Two Committee Volunteers

Join our enrichment teacher compensation study committee. The group will meet a couple times and do some research, before making recommendations for possible pay increases for our hardworking enrichment teachers. Contact Jenaver Goodman at SPTOCoChair@gmail.com.

Safety Patrol Volunteer—with stipend opportunity!

We urgently need a second (and possibly third) parent to help Safety Patrol be fully implemented. Ideally this volunteer has morning availability (7:45-8:40) at least a couple mornings a week. We also need someone who can collaborate with fourth and fifth grade teachers and help organize a rotating schedule for students. (This could be one or two different volunteers for the two roles.) Contact SPTOVolunteerCoordinator@gmail.com.

Retail Partners Coordinator

We have a great opportunity for a Sequoia volunteer who likes to use email and social media. Please contact us if you want to help us increase our fundraising revenue from retail partnerships. This means promoting the use of shopping links like Amazon.com so Sequoia receives a referral fee. This is a job you can do from home at any time that is convenient to you. We have potential to earn several thousand dollars per year from these programs. For example, when a shopper starts their Amazon purchase with the link on the Sequoiaschool.net website, SPTO receives 6-8% of the sale! Please contact SPTOVolunteerCoordinator@gmail.com if you are interested in this volunteer role. Thank you!

Arabic Translator

Communications Team is looking for a parent volunteer to assist with Arabic translations for the newsletter. Each week the newsletter features at least one article translated into several languages, thanks to the efforts of parent translators. If you are able to assist with Arabic translations, please contact Vicki Moulton at vicki.moulton@gmail.com.

Recess Support

We’re looking for volunteers to help monitor the playground during morning and lunchtime recess. If you’re interested, please send an email to SPTOVolunteerCoordinator@gmail.com.

Motor Skill Helpers

Motor Skills is starting for our TK and Kindergarten students on Wednesdays after Sequoia Sings. Parents, please consider coming to volunteer for this class — it helps the students have an enriching experience, and it’s also a lot of fun!  To volunteer, contact the Motor Skills Teacher, Emmanuel Sarabia (esarabia90@hotmail.com) or just show up on Wednesdays in the auditorium.

Reading Helpers

Sequoia is looking for parent volunteers to help students practice their reading skills! This opportunity will be during the school day on the Sequoia campus, throughout the school year. If you have some free time during the week and are interested please, email SPTOVolunteerCoordinator@gmail.com.
