Principal’s Corner: Back to School

Principal’s Corner: Back to School

It was a pleasure getting to meet so many of you at the Meet & Treat on Friday. Our school staff cannot wait to welcome all of our students to the 2019–20 school year! Here are some final reminders of Sequoia policies and procedures (old and new) to support a safe and orderly school experience:

  • All toys and personal play equipment must stay home. Parents are invited to donate sports equipment for use by the school/classroom.
  • The school yard will close 15 minutes after final bell, starting Aug. 14. At 10 minutes after the bell, a warning whistle will be blown. At 15 minutes after the bell, a distinct final whistle will be blown to signify that all students and parents should exit the yard. Beginning this Wednesday, the school yard may only be utilized by Sequoia Healthy Start, our after school program.
  • Pick-ups and drop-offs should only occur on Hearst. Parking is not allowed outside of the designated pick-up/drop-off zone. We recommend that you park a few blocks away and join a walking group to our campus.
  • The first week of school is all minimum days (dismissal at
1:20 p.m.) so that teachers can meet with small groups and do initial assessments. Please make sure you’ve signed up with your child’s teacher.
  • All classroom assignments are final. We will not make classroom changes by parent requests.

I’m so glad to join Sequoia as your principal and look forward to supporting the excellence of this community!

Sincerely,

Ms. Ada Carter, Principal
